Actions: Unblocks the yang (protective) qi in the exterior & induces sweating.
Indications: Mild fever & slight chills without sweating, headache, stuffy nose, a thin, white tongue coating, & a floating pulse. This is the earliest stage of an externally-contracted wind-cold or wind-heat disorder.

2. Disperses cold & unblocks the yang: for either abdominal pain & distention or nassal congestion due to blockage of yang qi by cold.
3. Relieves toxicity & disperses clumps: for sores & abscesses. For this use, the herb is applied externally as a poultice. |
