CautionsContraindicated in cases of yin deficiency with heat signs. Prescribe with caution for internal use as it easily inflames the digestive tract. Do not use long-term. Toxicity: Should not be given by intramuscular injection as this is very painful & easily leads to necrosis. Oral administration os often accompanied by vomiting, but this can be avoided if the dosage is increased in small increments. Intravenous or subcutaneous administration may cause hemolytic anemia, hematuria, & proteinuria. Other side effects noted in humans include dizziness, headache, chest pain, fever, weakness, insomnia, & loss of appetite. |
