Xue Jie / Dragon's Blood (resin of the plant)

Dosage 0.3-1.5g pwdr, internal or topical	Actions 1. Dispels blood stasis & alleviates pain: for symptoms related to injury from falls, fractures, contusions, & sprains, as well as pain due to blood stasis patterns from other causes. 2. Stops bleeding: applied topically to stop bleeding due to external injury. 3. Protects the surface of ulcer, prevents decay, & generates flesh: for chronic nonhealing ulcers.	Meridians Heart, Liver	Cautions Contraindicated during pregnancy, & in cases of yin deficient hot blood patterns. Do not use in the absence of blood stasis. Toxicity: Internal ingestion of xue jie has been associated in one case with angioedema. This patient then skin-tested positive for sensitivity to the substance & was thereafter successfully desensitized.
